[Archived] Four Alarm Fire Damages 14 Apartments.

Firefighters responded to a four alarm fire in the 6000 block of Edsall Road at 1:44 pm.  First arriving units reported fire and smoke coming from three floors of the three story apartment building.  A second alarm was struck to assist with fighting the fire followed by a third and finally a fourth alarm.  One hundred and thirty firefighters fought the fire which was brought under control at 4:24pm. 

The occupants of the building were able to escape without injury.  One firefighter was treated for a minor injury and transported to a nearby hospital.  The occupants of 14 apartments were displaced by the fire.

Initial damage is estimated at $3,000,000.  The cause remains under investigation.
