All City of Alexandria government offices will be closed on Monday, January 17, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday. Commonwealth of Virginia State offices will also be closed on Friday, January 14 for Lee-Jackson Day.
Health Facilities: The Alexandria Health Department, 4480 King St. and the Flora Krause Casey Health Center, 1200 N. Howard St., will be closed on January 14 (for Lee-Jackson Day) and January 17. The Teen Wellness Center, 3330 King St., will be closed on January 17.
Hotlines: All emergency hotlines operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including the child protective services hotline, 703.746.5800, the domestic violence hotline, 703.838.4911, the emergency services for mental health or substance abuse crisis hotline, 703.746.3401, and the sexual assault hotline, 703.683.7273.
Libraries: All Alexandria Library branches will be closed on January 17.
Parking: The Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, HOV regulations, residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits on January 17.
Recreation Centers: The Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on January 17. Charles Barrett, Charles Houston, Cora Kelly, Mount Vernon, Nannie J. Lee, Patrick Henry, and William Ramsay recreation centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on January 17. The Jerome "Buddie" Ford Nature Center, Lee Center Administration Building, and Dr. Oswald Durant Center will be closed on January 17.
Refuse Collection: Residential refuse and recycling will not be collected on January 17. Collection services will be delayed by one day during the week of January 17. The Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collections Drop-off Center will be closed on January 17.
Schools: All Alexandria City Public Schools and administrative offices will be closed on January 17.
State Offices: The following Commonwealth of Virginia offices located in Alexandria will be closed on January 14 (for Lee-Jackson Day) and January 17: the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts, and the DMV Office on 2681 Mill Rd.
Transit: Alexandria Transit Company’s DASH bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule on January 17.
