Tuesday, November 30 – Community Meeting to Discuss Special Tax Districts
The public is invited to attend and participate in this community meeting to discuss the proposed Potomac Yard special tax districts, which would finance the proposed Potomac Yard Metrorail Station. Alexandria Marketing Fund Announces Application Deadlines for FY 2011-2012
Applications are now being accepted for the Alexandria Marketing Fund, a program administered by the Alexandria Marketing Committee. The Marketing Fund is designed to foster projects that enhance the long-term marketing priorities of the City; increase awareness and improve the quality of Alexandria’s diverse businesses, promote Alexandria to specific target audiences, and generate additional business sales and tax revenues in Alexandria. The program encourages public-private partnerships that promote the City as a destination for visiting, shopping, dining, and doing business. Application deadlines for the FY 2011-2012 funding cycle are Tuesday, January 18, 2011; Tuesday, June 21, 2011; and Tuesday, August 16, 2011. City of Alexandria Commission for the Arts Seeking Volunteers to Serve on Resource Panels
The Alexandria Commission for the Arts is seeking volunteers with experience and interest in dance, literature, music, theatre and visual arts to serve on Resource Panels. Responsibilities include reviewing and evaluating Fiscal Year 2012 grant applications for grantees seeking funding for various arts programs. Fort Ward Ad Hoc Advisory Group Seeks Public Comment on Draft Report
The City of Alexandria’s Ad Hoc Fort Ward Park and Museum Area Stakeholder Advisory Group is seeking public comment on the draft report and recommendations prepared by the advisory group. The Ad Hoc Advisory Group, established by City Council and appointed by the City Manager, began their one-year term in December 2009, and has spent the past 10 months developing recommendations for the City’s management and planning at Fort Ward Park, including the museum area.
