[Archived] Alexandria Police Seek to Identify Bank Robbery Suspect

The Alexandria Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in the robbery of the Virginia Commerce Bank located at 1414 Prince Street. 

On Friday, October 8, at approximately 5:45 P.M., the suspect entered the business, displayed a silver handgun and demanded money.  The victim, a 32-year-old bank teller, relinquished an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect fled the bank.  There were no injuries.

The investigation has revealed that the suspect had been in that same bank branch earlier the same day.  The suspect also visited the State Department Federal Credit Union branch, located nearby at 1630 King Street, the same day as the robbery.  A video surveillance camera captured images of the suspect at the credit union.

The suspect is described black, five feet ten inches to five feet eleven inches tall, weighing approximately 160 to170 pounds.  He was wearing a dark gray or black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and concealing his face.  He was also carrying a black backpack.

In the photos from the surveillance video, the suspect is seen with the same backpack used in the robbery and wearing a black baseball cap, a gray t-shirt and dark jeans.
