[Archived] City of Alexandria to Hold Annual Family Fall Festival on Saturday, October 16

Fall Festival Pumpkins imageThe City of Alexandria’s Family Fall Festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Armistead L. Boothe Park, 520 Cameron Station Blvd. The event will be held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, the Festival will move indoors to Samuel W. Tucker School, 435 Ferdinand Day Dr.

Entertainment features Beale Street Puppet Theatre and the sounds of "Banjer Dan", Aka Dan Mazer, solo acoustic performer playing styles "from bluegrass and beyond" on banjo, guitar, mandolin and dobro. Children friendly and family activities include exhibits from the Jerome "Buddie" Ford Nature Center and the Alexandria Fire Department; face painting, pumpkin painting, hay rides, a visit from Robbie the Recycling Squirrel and more.

New for 2010: Tickets will be sold for the pony rides, moon bounce, bouncy boxing and scarecrow building at $5 each or 4 for $15. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
This festival is sponsored by the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities in partnership with the Browne Academy of Alexandria.

Armistead L. Boothe Park is located near the intersection of Edsall Rd. and Pickett St. adjacent to Samuel L. Tucker Elementary School. Limited parking is available at Armistead L. Boothe Park.
