[Archived] Alexandria Police Seek Help in Finding Suspect in Malicious Wounding

The Alexandria Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect wanted in a malicious wounding that occurred in the wooded area at Duke Street and South Van Dorn Street.

On August 15, around 1:15 A.M., a 40-year-old man was sleeping in a wooded area that had been set up as a homeless camp.  He awoke to find a female friend and another man he knew as Marcos approaching him.  The woman told him that Marcos was bothering her and asked for his help to get him to stop.  When the man stood up to ask Marcos to leave her alone, Marcos physically assaulted the man, causing severe facial injuries.  The suspect then fled the area after taking the victim’s cell phone.  The victim was taken to INOVA Fairfax Hospital and treated for his non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect has been identified as Marcos Campos, 30, of Alexandria.  He is 5’8” and weighs 210 lbs.  He has black hair and brown eyes and frequents the Landmark area and has been known to visit homeless camps on the west end of the City.  He is considered to be extremely dangerous and may be carrying a knife.  Warrants are on file for Malicious Wounding and Robbery from this case.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Marcos Campos is asked to call Detective Victor Ignacio at 703.519.3491 or the Crime Solvers tip line at 703.838.4858.

Detectives would like to remind witnesses that they can remain anonymous.
