[Archived] City of Alexandria Commission for the Arts Schedules Grants Program Workshops (correction)

City of Alexandria Commission for the Arts Schedules Grants Program Workshops

The Alexandria Commission for the Arts will conduct two grant workshops Monday, September 20 and Wednesday, October 6 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Durant Arts Center, 1605 Cameron St. The workshops will provide information about the Commission’s annual grant program, which provides funding to non-profit arts organizations for various arts programs, and instructions for the on-line application process. All applicants including past grant recipients are encouraged to attend one of the grant workshops.

The goals of the Commission’s grant program are to encourage artistic excellence in the City; assist Alexandria-based arts organizations in improving their financial, administrative, and management capabilities; and provide individual artists with opportunities to create, perform, and present their works.

The Guide to Funding for Fiscal Year 2011-2012 and application forms for all grant programs will be available September 20 at alexandriacommissionforthearts.org.  Completed online grant applications must be submitted by Friday, November 19, 2010 at midnight.  In addition, one hard copy of the application should be delivered by 5 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2010 at the Durant Arts Center, 1605 Cameron St., Alexandria, VA 22314.

The Arts Commission and Office of the Arts, a division of the Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities, promote and cultivate the arts in the City of Alexandria.  For more information, visit their web sites at alexandriacommissionorthearts.org and alexandriava.gov/arts.  For information on the grants program, please contact Cheryl Anne Colton at 703.746.5565.
