[Archived] 2010 Business Personal Property Tax Bills Mailed

2010 Business Personal Property Tax Bills have been mailed to all City businesses.
The new bills will not show the assessed value of the property.
The City has introduced three new ways to pay business personal property taxes.
Any business not receiving a bill by September 15, 2010, should contact the City to request a duplicate bill.

The City of Alexandria has mailed 2010 Business Personal Property Tax bills to all businesses that were operating in the City as of January 1, 2010. There has been a slight change to the appearance of business personal property tax bills due to the implementation of the City’s new business tax system. The assessed value of the property being taxed will no longer be shown on these bills. In addition, any bill based on a statutory (estimated) assessment due to a business’ failure to file a business personal property tax return will be marked as such.

Please note that in the past year, the City has introduced three new ways to pay business personal property taxes. You may now pay business personal property taxes in cash only at 50 Global Express Payment Centers throughout Northern Virginia, including all Shoppers Food and Pharmacy locations. See alexandriava.gov/Payments for more information and a complete list of payment center locations. You may also pay by either eCheck or credit card online at alexandriava.gov/Payments. The payment center and eCheck services are free. There is a small fee for all credit card payments.

If you receive a bill and are having difficulty understanding the new bill format or wish to obtain information concerning the assessment, you may contact Business Tax for assistance at 703.746.3903 or businesstax@alexandriava.gov. If you do not receive a business personal property tax bill by September 15, please contact Business Tax. You may also contact the City’s Treasury Division at payments@alexandriava.gov or call 703.746.3902. Taxpayers who have had a change of address and have not previously reported this change to the City should contact Business Tax so that a bill can be provided for them prior to the October 5 due date.
