[Archived] City of Alexandria to Host First Annual Youth Arts Festival

First Annual City of Alexandria Youth Arts Festival
Saturday, August 14

The First Annual Youth Arts Festival, designed for youth and families, is scheduled for Saturday, August 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jefferson-Houston Elementary School Park at 1501 Cameron St. This fun filled, cultural enriching, and completely engaging festival features live performances, puppet theatre, fine art displays, interactive workshops, poetry readings and opportunities for youth to sell their art. Food and beverage sales will be available, and the festival will be held rain or shine.

With youth at its core, festival activities focus on art as a catalyst for building communities. Young aspiring artists will have the opportunity to share their talents, engage in the arts and promote community involvement.

The festival is sponsored by the Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority (ARHA), in partnership with the City of Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities, the neighborhoods of EYA, the Northern Virginia Urban League, and the Alexandria Commission for the Arts.

In case of inclement weather, the festival will be held in the Jefferson-Houston School multi-purpose room.  For additional information, call 703.746.5588.

Parking is limited and participants are encouraged to bike, walk or take the Metrorail Yellow or Blue lines to the King Street and Braddock Road Metro Stations a short distance from the festival location.  In addition, parking is available at the George Washington Middle School on Mount Vernon Ave. within a short walk from the festival location.
