Tuesday, August 3 – Meeting on Ben Brenman Park Athletic Field Improvements
The public is invited to attend an informational meeting to discuss the upcoming construction for the Ben Brenman Soccer Field improvements and Little League Baseball Field lights, located at 4800 Ben Brenman Park Drive. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on the Soccer Field at Ben Brenman Park. For more information, or to e-mail written comments, send them to bethany.carton@alexandriava.gov.

Tuesday, August 3 – Old Town Area Parking Study Work Group Meeting
The Old Town Area Parking Study Work Group will meet from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the City Council Workroom, 2nd floor, City Hall, 301 King St. The group will discuss the installation of new meters in commercial areas, a new policy that would require vehicles with disabled designations to pay meter fees at metered spaces, public use of private garages, multi-space meters, and parking enforcement. The group will also meet at the same time and location on August 17 and August 31. Thursday, August 5 - Community Meeting on Revised King Street Metrorail Station Improvements
Residents are invited to attend an information meeting regarding improvements to access at the King Street Metrorail station. Monday, August 16 – Alexandria Marketing Fund Application Deadline
Applications are now being accepted for the Alexandria Marketing Fund, a program administered by the Alexandria Marketing Fund Committee. The fund is designed to increase revenues within the City by fostering public/private partnerships that promote Alexandria as a destination for visiting, shopping, dining and doing business. City Council appropriates monies for the fund on an annual basis and the Alexandria Marketing Fund Committee reviews and approves applications for funding. The application deadline is Monday, August 16. King Street Paving Project
The City of Alexandria is resurfacing King Street, between Columbus Street and the King Street Metro. The scope of the King Street improvement project includes two phases. The first phase began on July 12 and includes curb and gutter repairs and new ADA accessible ramps at crosswalks. The work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for approximately eight weeks. The second phase, which includes milling and paving, will start in mid-September. It is scheduled Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., and will last two to three weeks, weather permitting.
