Saturday, July 24 – Soldier-Led Walking Tours
A Union soldier in period uniform will lead walking tours of Fort Ward (4301 W. Braddock Rd) at 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m. The 90-minute tours will introduce visitors to the history of the Defenses of Washington, the building and role of Fort Ward, 19th-century fortification engineering, and the troops who were stationed in this area during the Civil War. Wednesday, July 28 – Lunch Bunch Concert
Featuring the Legend of Lummy Halin (Original & Classic Pop Rock) at noon, 44 Canal Plaza. Concerts are cancelled in the event of inclement weather and subject to change without notice. Thursday, July 29 – 18th-Century Dance Class
In preparation for the Jane Austen on August 14, learn 18th-century English country dancing from an expert dance at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, 134 N. Saturday, August 7 – Friendship Firehouse Festival
Celebrate the 236th birthday of the Friendship Fire Company at this great family event in the 100 block of South Alfred Street from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kids of all ages will enjoy displays of historic and modern firefighting apparatus, free birthday cake, craft books, food vendors and more! Go on tours of the historic firehouse, first built in 1855. Children will receive free Friendship Fire helmets! Saturday, August 7 – Tavern Day
At Gadsby’s Tavern Museum’s free Tavern Day Open House, 134 N. Royal St., experience Alexandria’s five-star hotel of the 18th century, whose guests included George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams! From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., explore life in the 18th century with continuous tours by costumed guides and the chance to learn to dance like George and Martha Washington. This year’s highlights include enlightening 18th-century science experiments conducted in the Assembly Room! Enjoy period music and light refreshments. City of Alexandria Farmers’ Markets 
The City of Alexandria is host to a variety of farmers’ markets, including the Old Town Farmers’ market and Del Ray Farmers Market on Saturday; the West End Farmers’ Market and Four Mile Run Farmers and Artisans Market on Sunday; and the Upper King Street Fresh Farmers’ Market on Wednesday. Markets feature colorful displays of fresh, locally grown, in-season vegetables and fruits, gourmet coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, meat, bakery items and artisans.
