Saturday, July 17 – Hidden History of Union Street Walking Tour
Join City Archaeologist Pam Cressey as she explores “The Hidden History of Union Street – Are We Walking on Water?” Meet at the northeast corner of King and Union streets at 10:30 a.m. and walk along Union to learn what archaeologists have found above and below the ground. Sunday, July 18 – Family Tour Day
Visitors to Gadsby’s Tavern Museum (134 N. Royal St.) on Family Tour Day will experience the historic tavern through our Junior Docent tours! From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., volunteers from grades 3 through 6 will be stationed at each stop on the tour, including the taproom, bedchambers, ballroom, assembly room and dining room. Tuesday, July 20 – Alexandria Mentoring Partnership's Mentor Recruitment Cruise
Save the date for the Alexandria Mentoring Partnership's Annual Mentor Recruitment Cruise on July 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Join us for food and fun while taking advantage of a unique opportunity to learning about mentoring opportunities in the City of Alexandria. Wednesday, July 21 – Stories in the Park
Come out and enjoy stories in the park, read by your favorite Alexandria librarians! The reading will begin at 11 a.m. at Fort Ward Park, 4301 W. Braddock Rd. The free event is recommended for children ages two and up. For more information, call 703.746.1703 ext. 5.

Wednesday, July 21 –  Lunch Bunch Concert at John Carlyle Park 
The next Lunch Bunch concert features the Army The Joe Rathbone Band, who will play Indi pop music. The concert begins at noon at John Carlyle Park (300 John Carlyle St.). Wednesday, July 21 – Ben Brenman Park Concert
The next concert at Ben Brenman Park features Folk by Association. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Ben Brenman Park Amphitheater (4800 Ben Brenman Park Dr.). Alexandria Library’s SummerQuest Program
Alexandria Library's SummerQuest reading program has begun, but it is not too late to sign up! Children ages 6-12 can sign up for SummerQuest (and children under 5 years old can sign up for SummerQuest Junior) at the children's desk at any of the four Alexandria Library branches. Saturday, July 24 – Soldier-Led Walking Tours
A Union soldier in period uniform will lead walking tours of Fort Ward (4301 W. Braddock Rd) at 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m. The 90-minute tours will introduce visitors to the history of the Defenses of Washington, the building and role of Fort Ward, 19th-century fortification engineering, and the troops who were stationed in this area during the Civil War. Walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing recommended. Tours are free and dependent upon the weather. For more information, please visit www.fortward.org or call 703.746.4848.

City of Alexandria Farmers’ Markets 
The City of Alexandria is host to a variety of farmers’ markets, including the Old Town Farmers’ market and Del Ray Farmers Market on Saturday; the West End Farmers’ Market and Four Mile Run Farmers and Artisans Market on Sunday; and the Upper King Street Fresh Farmers’ Market on Wednesday. Markets feature colorful displays of fresh, locally grown, in-season vegetables and fruits, gourmet coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, meat, bakery items and artisans.
