2010 Comcast Outdoor Film Festival
Waterfront Front, 1A Prince St. at dusk
Cosponsor: City of Alexandria and Comcast

Comcast and the City of Alexandria present the Comcast Outdoor Film Festival at Waterfront Park. Join us for two nights of FREE outdoor movies to benefit a local nonprofit agency. Movie goers can enjoy their favorite movie snacks like fresh popcorn and homemade lemonade. Movies start at dusk.

Saturday, July 17 - Transformers Revenge of the Fallen

SUMMER CONCERTS

Visitors to the historic district are encouraged to take Metro rail Yellow or Blue lines to the King Street Station in Old Town and take the King Street Trolley; take DASH or Metro buses; or park in one of the convenient parking garages or lots. 

 POWER-ON” SUMMER 2010 CAMPS AND ACTIVITIES

The Department offers diverse and fun filled summer camp programs for youth ages 3-17. Kids can fill their summer playing with robots, kicking a soccer ball, swimming and walking through nature just to name a few. NATURE CAMPS
This summer the Jerome “Buddie” Ford Nature Center is offering fun filled summer day camps for children ages 5 to 12. Advance registration is required. To register or to request additional information about this or other summer programs, please call the Naturalist staff at 703.746.5559.

Budding Naturalist Camp: July 19-21, from 1 pm – 3 pm
$85 City Residents / $110 Nonresidents
Designed for children entering kindergarten or first grade, participants explore the fascinating world of insects. Camp participants will be led through forest, field and stream in search of these elusive creatures. Advance registration is required.

Junior Naturalist Camp: July 26-30, from 9 am to noon
$95 City Residents / $120 Nonresidents
Designed for children entering second, third, or fourth grade, participants will explore the wilds of Dora Kelley Nature Park in search of Alexandria’s reptiles and amphibians.

SUMMER OUTDOOR POOLS

Outdoor Pools Open Weekends
The Old Town Pool (1609 Cameron St.) and Warwick Pool (3301 Landover St.) will open on weekends beginning through Saturday, May 29, and will open daily beginning June 28. For additional information and a complete schedule of pool openings, visit www.alexandriava.gov/pools 

ARTS IN ALEXANDRIA

Alexandria Film Festival Seeks Film Submissions through August 15
The Alexandria Film Festival is now accepting film entries from U.S. and international filmmakers. The fourth annual festival will be held Thursday, November 4 – Sunday, November 7 at various locations throughout the City. The Film Festival is partnering with Withoutabox, the film industry’s premiere online service platform. To submit your film online, please visit www.withoutabox.com/login/7816. All entries submitted through Withoutabox will receive discounted entry fees. For more information or to obtain entry forms and submission guidelines, visit www.alexandriafilm.org. Annual Picnic of the Arts Commission and Arts Forum
The annual picnic of the Arts Commission and Arts Forum will be held on Thursday July 15, 5:30pm, Ford Ward Park.  The potluck picnic will be followed by a performance by the Alexandria Harmonizers in the Fort Ward amphitheatre at 7:30 pm.  R.S.V.P. to aca@alexandriava.gov
