Saturday, June 5 - Republican Primary Absentee Voting Deadline for Eligible City Voters 
Absentee voting opened to eligible voters on May 7. Many Alexandria voters are eligible to vote absentee, and you may cast your absentee vote in person at the Alexandria Voter Registration Office, 132 North Royal Street, or by mail. The deadline for voting absentee in person is Saturday, June 5 at 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.alexandriavoter.org or call 703.746.4050.

Saturday, June 5 – Fort Ward Park History Group Meeting
Interested participants are invited to the Fort Ward Park History Group meeting at Fort Ward Museum, 4301 W. Braddock Rd., from 10 a.m. to noon. Workgroup members are recording family history, identifying features such as graves, documenting historical photographs including family and landscape images, and helping with other projects related to the history of the site and in particular, to the African-American community that existed at Fort Ward. Monday, June 7 – Housing Master Plan Community Meeting
The next Housing Master Plan Meeting will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Durant Center, 1605 Cameron Street. The topic of the meeting is Planning & Zoning 101.  The discussion will focus on how the planning and regulatory process affects housing production, including limits, opportunities and costs. Tuesday, June 8 – Annual Waterfront Walk, hosted by the Alexandria Waterfront Committee
The City of Alexandria Waterfront Committee invites the public to participate in its annual Waterfront Walk beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Oronoco Bay Park, 100 Madison St. Walkers will continue south along the City’s waterfront to The Strand. This annual event provides Committee members the opportunity to assess operational conditions and issues along the waterfront. In addition, this year's walk includes discussions by City staff on the City's Draft Waterfront Concept Plan. For more information, call Laura Seidler at 703.746.5494.

Wednesday, June 9 – Potomac Yard Design Advisory Committee Meeting
The Potomac Yard Design Advisory Committee will meet at 7 p.m. in Sister Cities Room 1101, Alexandria City Hall, 301 King St. The Committee’s role is to review preliminary development plan approvals for compliance with the Potomac Yard Urban Design Guidelines and to send its recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council for their consideration. Thursday, June 10 - Nominations Deadline for the 2010 CIVIC Award 
The Alexandria Park and Recreation Commission is seeking nominations for the 2010 CIVIC Awards. The annual awards program recognizes the unsung volunteer efforts of Alexandrians who are involved in their communities and who have provided a valuable service to Alexandria in meeting recreation, park, or cultural needs. Individuals can nominate an Alexandria resident, group, club, organization, or corporate neighbor. Nominations must be received by Thursday, June 10. Thursday, June 10 - Ad Hoc Fort Ward Park and Museum Area Stakeholder Advisory Group Meeting

Monday, June 14 – Alexandria Marketing Fund Application Deadline
Applications are now being accepted for the Alexandria Marketing Fund, a program administered by the Alexandria Marketing Fund Committee. The fund is designed to increase revenues within the City by fostering public/private partnerships that promote Alexandria as a destination for visiting, shopping, dining and doing business. City Council appropriates monies for the fund on an annual basis and the Alexandria Marketing Fund Committee reviews and approves applications for funding. The application deadline for the second round of funding is Monday, June 14. Tuesday, June 15 - Alexandria’s First Half Real Estate Tax Bills Due
The City of Alexandria has mailed bills for the first half 2010 Real Estate Tax and Refuse Fee to all property owners and/or mortgage companies. First Half Real Estate Tax payments are due June 15. For more information on real estate assessments, appeals or updating your mailing address, visit www.alexandriava.gov/realestatetax. Friday, June 18 – Leaf and Wood Mulch Deliveries Conclude
The City of Alexandria’s leaf and wood mulch delivery program will conclude on Friday, June 18. Residents can continue to pick up mulch at 4215 Eisenhower Avenue until further notice. The mulch site’s hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.alexandriava.gov/yardwaste.
