Monday, May 17 – Arlandria Developer Forum
The City of Alexandria, in partnership with the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership, is pleased to announce the Arlandria Developer Forum at the Birchmere (3701 Mt Vernon Ave.) from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The goal of the forum is to promote discussion about the opportunities and challenges to redevelopment in Arlandria. Wednesday, May 19 – Joint Work Session on City’s Wayfinding Sign Program
The Parker-Gray and Old and Historic District Boards of Architectural Review will hold a joint work session on the City's Wayfinding Sign Program from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Council Workroom, City Hall, 301 King St. The purpose of the session is to provide comments on the sign mockups phase, the design concept and overall strategy, and to specifically review the appropriateness of building-mounted parking garage signs. Wednesday, May 19 – BRAC-133 Advisory Group Meeting
The BRAC-133 Advisory Group will meet at 7 p.m. at the Burke Library, 4701 Seminary Rd. The City Council established the BRAC-133 Advisory group to serve as a forum for developing ideas and recommendations related to transportation improvements and other issues associated with the BRAC relocation at the Mark Center. Thursday, May 20 – Nominations Deadline for the 2010 Alexandria Beautification Awards 
The City of Alexandria’s Beautification Commission is accepting nominations for the 2010 Alexandria Beautification Awards through Thursday, May 20. The awards program recognizes City residents, organizations, and businesses for their efforts in contributing to the beautification of City neighborhoods and public vistas with landscaping and aesthetic design. Hours of operation for Alexandria’s Libraries will change effective Tuesday, June 1, 2010.

Republican Primary Absentee Voting for Eligible City Voters Now Open
Absentee voting opened to eligible voters on May 7. Many Alexandria voters are eligible to vote absentee, and you may cast your absentee vote in person at the Alexandria Voter Registration Office, 132 North Royal Street, or by mail. The deadline for voting absentee in person is Saturday, June 5 at 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.alexandriavoter.org or call 703.746.4050.

Nominations for the 2010 CIVIC Award 
The Alexandria Park and Recreation Commission is seeking nominations for the 2010 CIVIC Awards. The annual awards program recognizes the unsung volunteer efforts of Alexandrians who are involved in their communities and who have provided a valuable service to Alexandria in meeting recreation, park, or cultural needs. Individuals can nominate an Alexandria resident, group, club, organization, or corporate neighbor. Nominations must be received by Thursday, June 10.
