Saturday, May 1 – Citywide Affordable Housing Bus Tour
Limited seats are still available on a free bus tour of the affordable housing available in the City of Alexandria. Advance reservations are required. Please contact the Office of Housing at 703.746.4990 or e-mail Carrie Beach at carrie.beach@alexandriava.gov to reserve a seat.

Monday, May 3 – 2010 Business Personal Property Tax Returns Due
The 2010 Business Personal Property Tax Return is due May 3 from all businesses that were operating in the City as of January 1. The City will conduct a statutory assessment of any business that fails to meet this deadline. In the absence of a signed and completed tax return, the 2010 Business Personal Property Tax bill will be based on this statutory assessment and may exceed the amount that would have been due based on a proper return. If you have not received a business personal property tax return or have had a change of address that was not previously reported, e-mail businesstax@alexandriava.gov or call 703.746.3903. Monday, May 3 – Presentation of Alexandria Waterfront Concept Plan
The Alexandria Waterfront Concept Plan will be presented at a meeting at the Lyceum Theater (201 S. Washington St.) from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The Waterfront Concept Plan document will be available for public comments after it is presented on May 3. A draft Waterfront Master Plan document will subsequently be released in early summer for public review and comment. For more information, call Nancy Williams at 703.746.3851.

Nominations for the 2010 Alexandria Beautification Awards 
The City of Alexandria’s Beautification Commission is accepting nominations for the 2010 Alexandria Beautification Awards. The awards program recognizes City residents, organizations, and businesses for their efforts in contributing to the beautification of City neighborhoods and public vistas with landscaping and aesthetic design.
