Wednesday, April 21 – BRAC-133 Advisory Group Meeting
The BRAC-133 Advisory Group will meet at 7 p.m. at the Burke Library, 4701 Seminary Rd. The City Council established the BRAC-133 Advisory group to serve as a forum for developing ideas and recommendations related to transportation improvements and other issues associated with the BRAC relocation at the Mark Center. Thursday, April 22 – Open House for the New Safe Haven
The Alexandria Community Services Board (CSB) invites the public to attend an open house for the new Safe Haven from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 115 North Patrick St.  The Safe Haven program provides housing and services for homeless individuals with a mental illness or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.  The program is designed to fill a gap in Alexandria’s services for homeless people whose needs frequently cannot be met with traditional outreach and emergency shelter programs. Thursday, April 22 – Meeting on Transit Options for Northern Virginia 
The Northern Virginia Streetcar Coalition will be hosting a discussion of transit options for Northern Virginia from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hilton Mark Center Alexandria; 5000 Seminary Rd. Experts will speak on how our local government plans to make our community a more livable place for home, work and play. Transit plans will also be presented. Monday, April 26 –Community Meeting on Proposed Lighting Improvements
Attend a community meeting to discuss proposed lighting improvements at 4800 Brenman Park Dr. at 7 p.m. City staff will present information and answer questions on the proposed athletic field lights plan that has been submitted to the Planning Commission for a May 4, 2010 public hearing. Tuesday, April 27 - CANCELLED: Ad Hoc Fort Ward Park and Museum Area Stakeholder Advisory Group Meeting
The City of Alexandria's Ad Hoc Fort Ward Park and Museum Area Stakeholder Advisory Group will meet at 7 p.m. at the Fort Ward Museum, 4301 W. Braddock Rd. Established by City Council resolution in June 2009, the Advisory Group advises City staff on Fort Ward Park and Museum use and management. Thursday, April 29 - Park Meeting on Open Space Properties 
Attend a community meeting to discuss the upcoming park planning and design process for the open space properties at 4109-4125 Mount Vernon Ave., including a discussion about the public use of the former Duron Paint store building. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the entrance to Four Mile Run Park, 4131 Mount Vernon Ave. The properties were acquired in January 2007 as part of the City’s Open Space Program. Saturday, May 1 – Citywide Affordable Housing Bus Tour
Join the Office of Housing on a free bus tour of the affordable housing available in the City of Alexandria. Seating is limited and advance reservations are required by April 21. Comment on the Proposed FY 2011 Budget
On February 16, Alexandria City Manager James K. Hartmann proposed a $534.1 million General Fund Operating Budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2011. The public is encouraged to provide comments on the proposed budget online.

2010 Applications Now Available for Elderly and Disabled Tax Relief
If you are at least 65 years of age or permanently and totally disabled by November 15, 2010, you may qualify for a full or partial exemption and/or deferral for your 2010 real estate taxes and/or an exemption from your 2010 personal property taxes on one vehicle.
