[Archived] U.S. Census 2010 Portrait of America Regional Road Tour to Visit Alexandria

For immediate release: April 9, 2010

The City of Alexandria invites residents to join the U.S. Census 2010 Portrait of America Regional Road Tour—part of the largest civic outreach and awareness campaign in U.S. history—to learn more about the Census and how it can help the City.

On Monday, April 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., Alexandria will host the final stop of the 2010 Census Portrait of America Regional Road Tour, an interactive, experience-designed campaign to encourage participation in the 2010 Census.

The event, which is free to the public, will take place at the Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe St. The Road Tour event will feature performances by The Chosen Voices from Woodlawn Methodist Church, and two of the city’s top cheerleading squads, the Alexandria Hot Topic Rising All Stars and Afficial Rising Starz. A special appearance will be made by DJ Flava, from WKYS-FM. Interactive displays, games for children and adults, music and light refreshments will also be featured.

The event is sponsored by the City of Alexandria Census Complete Count Committee and the Northern Virginia Urban League, NOVA Coalition, and the U.S. Census Bureau, Charlotte Region office. Visit alexandriava.gov/Census2010 for more information.
