Saturday, April 10 – March to the Mailbox
The City of Alexandria invites residents to march to the mailbox and send back their completed 2010 Census forms. Information tables will be set up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at the following locations: Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe Street; George Washington Middle School, 1005 Mt. Vernon Ave.; the Shops at Mark Center, N. Beauregard St. and Seminary Rd.; Giant Food, 5730 Edsall Rd; and Southern Towers Apartments, 4901 Seminary Rd. Saturday, April 10 – Beauregard Corridor Plan
Come to a community workshop to provide input on the vision, goals, and planning framework for the Beauregard Corridor Plan. The workshop is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Landmark Mall (5801 Duke Street) in the former New York and Company space near the second-level parking structure entrance. Residents are encouraged to arrive by 9 a.m. to review documents and maps before the workshop begins.

Monday, April 12—U.S. Census 2010 Portrait of America Regional Road Tour
The U.S. Census 2010 Portrait of America Regional Road Tour makes its final stop. Be part of the celebration!  From 6 to 8 p.m. at the Charles Houston Recreation Center (901 Wythe St.), join Mayor Euille, DJ Flava from WKYS, The Chosen Voices of the Woodlawn Methodist Church Choir, and the Alexandria Hot Topic Rising All Stars and Afficial Rizing Starz cheerleading squads for an evening of interactive games, music, and more! Wednesday, April 14 – Virginia Paving Community Liaison Committee Meeting
The Virginia Paving Community Liaison Committee will meet at 7 p.m. at Samuel Tucker Elementary School in the 2nd floor mini-auditorium. The committee was formed to discuss and resolve any problems, conflicts or issues related to Virginia Paving's operations that have been identified by the community. The committee is composed of representatives from surrounding residential communities, Virginia Paving Company, and City staff.

Wednesday, April 14 – Potomac Yard Design Advisory Committee Meeting
The Potomac Yard Design Advisory Committee will meet from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at City Hall, 301 King St., in the City Council Workroom, 2nd floor. The Committee’s role is to review preliminary development plan approvals for compliance with the Potomac Yard Urban Design Guidelines and to send its recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council for their consideration. Wednesday, April 14 – Census Complete Count Committee Meeting
The Census Complete Count Committee will meet at 7 p.m. at the Durant Center, 1605 Cameron St. The committee was established to help develop a strategy to ensure an accurate census count in 2010 and promote participation by all residents. For more information, call Ralph Rosenbaum at 703.746.3859.

Wednesday, April 21 – BRAC-133 Advisory Group Meeting
The BRAC-133 Advisory Group will meet at 7 p.m. at the Burke Library, 4701 Seminary Rd. The City Council established the BRAC-133 Advisory group to serve as a forum for developing ideas and recommendations related to transportation improvements and other issues associated with the BRAC relocation at the Mark Center. Saturday, May 1 – Citywide Affordable Housing Bus Tour
Join the Office of Housing on a free bus tour of the affordable housing available in the City of Alexandria. Seating is limited and advance reservations are required by April 21. Grant Opportunities from the Alexandria Fund for Human Services 
The Alexandria Fund for Human Services reminds the community that funding is available for human services projects through three grant programs for FY2011: Community Partnership Fund, Youth Fund and Children's Fund. The final grant proposal deadline is April 14 for the Children’s Fund. For more information, visit alexandriava.gov/HumanServices.

Comment on the Proposed FY 2011 Budget
On February 16, Alexandria City Manager James K. Hartmann proposed a $534.1 million General Fund Operating Budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2011. The public is encouraged to provide comments on the proposed budget online.

2010 Applications Now Available for Elderly and Disabled Tax Relief 
If you are at least 65 years of age or permanently and totally disabled by November 15, 2010, you may qualify for a full or partial exemption and/or deferral for your 2010 real estate taxes and/or an exemption from your 2010 personal property taxes on one vehicle. Free Tax Preparation Assistance for Low-Income Residents
The City of Alexandria is offering free tax preparation assistance to low-income residents during the 2010 tax season. Tax preparation sessions begin at 9 a.m. on Saturdays, and at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, through April 13. Sessions are held in the lobby of the Alexandria Department of Human Services, 2525 Mount Vernon Ave. For more information, call Suzanne Kratzok, Coordinator of Community Resources, at 703.746.5663.
