Alexandria Police Resolve Barricade Incident on Eisenhower Avenue

Alexandria Police have resolved a barricade incident that occurred in the 4800 block of Eisenhower Avenue.

Today, at approximately 10:10 A.M., a deputy sheriff arrived in the 4800 block of Eisenhower Avenue to serve an eviction notice. After knocking on the door and announcing himself, the deputy sheriff heard gunfire coming from the apartment.  Officers secured the scene.  The Police Department’s Special Operations Team and Hostage Negotiations Team responded to the scene. 

CSX and Metro were notified of the situation due to their proximity to the incident scene. CSX decided to temporarily stop service on the tracks near the incident.  Train service was restored around 4:15 P.M.

At approximately 10:00 P.M. Police entered the residence and located the individual with an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound.
