[Archived] Alexandria Police on Scene of Barricade Situation Near Eisenhower Avenue

Residents are advised that the Alexandria Police Department has tactical units in the area around 4800 Eisenhower Avenue.

At approximately 10:45 a.m., a deputy sheriff arrived in the 4800 block of Eisenhower Avenue to serve an eviction notice. After knocking on the door and announcing himself, the deputy sheriff heard gunfire coming from the apartment. There have been no injuries. The subject is currently barricaded in his apartment and police believe the subject is alone. A Hostage Negotiations Team has responded, and police are in contact with the subject, and hope to end the incident peacefully.

CSX and Metro have been notified of the situation due to their proximity to the incident scene. CSX has decided to temporarily stop service on the tracks near the 4800 block of Eisenhower Avenue.
