Grant Opportunities from the Alexandria Fund for Human Services
The Alexandria Fund for Human Services reminds the community that funding is available for human services projects through three grant programs for FY2011: Community Partnership Fund, Youth Fund and Children's Fund. On February 16, Alexandria City Manager James K. Hartmann proposed a $534.1 million General Fund Operating Budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2011. The public is encouraged to provide comments on the proposed budget online.
2010 Applications Now Available for Elderly and Disabled Tax Relief
If you are at least 65 years of age or permanently and totally disabled by November 15, 2010, you may qualify for a full or partial exemption and/or deferral for your 2010 real estate taxes and/or an exemption from your 2010 personal property taxes on one vehicle. Free Tax Preparation Assistance for Low-Income Residents
The City of Alexandria is offering free tax preparation assistance to low-income residents during the 2010 tax season. Tax preparation sessions begin at 9 a.m. on Saturdays, and at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, through April 13.
