"I wish to commend all the employees of the Police Department who worked extremely hard all year to contribute to this historic 40 year low in crime. The diminished resources we all face as a result of these difficult economic times challenge us everyday to provide quality Police service to our community.  I applaud the outstanding work and commitment of the men and women of the department, and the continued cooperation and support we receive from the residents we are proud to serve.  I thank all of our residents and business partners, the Commonwealth Attorney's office, and the Sheriff's office, all of whom collaborated with the Police Department to make Alexandria a safer Community," said Alexandria Police Chief Earl L. Cook.
