Updated Motorcoach Regulations Go Into Effect April 1
In preparation for the busy spring tourism season, Alexandria is announcing new remote parking locations and a new permit process for motorcoaches visiting the City. Beginning on April 1, parking within Old Town at Robinson Terminal and North St. Asaph Street will be available by registering for permits that are free of charge and available online.
Free, reserved, short-term parking will be available at Robinson Terminal (500 block of North Union Street) and the 900 block of N. St. Asaph St. in Old Town Alexandria, with online registration, beginning April 1. To register for these parking spaces, visit alexandriava.gov/motorcoach.
Unreserved, free parking spaces have also been added within three miles of historic Old Town:
Short- and long-term parking will continue to be available at the George Washington Masonic Memorial by reservation with a fee.
Loading and unloading locations and traffic regulations have not changed. All motorcoach rules and regulations are available on the City’s new 24-hour Motorcoach Information Hotline at 703.746.4020.
These new parking locations, hotline, and other changes are among the many recommended by the City’s Motorcoach Task Force and approved by the Alexandria City Council. The Task Force has been working since 2008 to develop a proactive approach to motorcoach management that recognizes the economic value of the industry and balances its operational needs with measures to limit intrusive effects on Alexandria’s neighborhoods, the environment, quality of life, traffic and parking.
