Alexandria Police Seek Public’s Help to Identify Larceny Suspect

The Alexandria Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in a larceny that occurred at the Fitness First Gym, located at 255 South Van Dorn Street.

On March 15, 2010, between 7:30 P.M. and 8:30 P.M., the suspect passed by the front desk and entered the men’s locker room.  Once inside, the suspect searched until he found an unlocked locker and stole a gym bag containing the victim’s wallet.  The suspect immediately left the gym and went to the Best Buy, located at 5901 Stevenson Avenue, and purchased $2,500 in gift cards using the victim’s credit card.

On March 16, the gift cards were redeemed at the Best Buy located at 3401 Jefferson Davis Highway by a different person.

The suspect in the locker theft is described as a white male between 35 and 45 years old, approximately 5’10” with a medium build.  He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black leather jacket, a New York Yankees hat and sneakers with red or pink shoe laces.  He was also wearing glasses.

This suspect has been linked to two other cases in Loudoun County and Leesburg.

Images of the suspect were caught on a video surveillance camera in Alexandria and Loudoun County.

Anyone recognizing the person depicted in the pictures or anyone with additional information about this case is asked to call Detective Daniel Plank at the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703.838.4797 or the Crime Solvers tip line at 703.838.4858.

Detectives would like to remind witnesses that they can remain anonymous.
