[Archived] Public Hearing on Proposed Community Use of Duron Paint Store Building

The City of Alexandria’s Park and Recreation Commission will hold a public hearing to present and discuss the proposed special use permit application for community use of the Duron Paint Store Building located at 4109 Mount Vernon Ave. The hearing will be held on Thursday, March 18, at 7 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Recreation Center, 2701 Commonwealth Ave. 

The purpose of the public hearing is to obtain public comment on the anticipated change of use of the building from a commercial business to public use. Approval of a Special Use Permit is required for this proposed change of use. After discussion on the Duron Paint Store Building, the Commission will hear comments from City residents on any other park and recreation related issue not previously discussed in a public hearing by the Commission. The regular meeting of the Commission will follow.

Individuals who are unable to attend the public hearing can view the presentation at www.alexandriva.gov on Friday, March 19, and send written comments to the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities, Attention: William Chesley, 1108 Jefferson St., Alexandria, VA 22314, or e-mail william.chesley@alexandriava.gov. The deadline to submit comments is 5 p.m., Friday, April 2, 2010.
