[Archived] City of Alexandria Government Closed Tuesday, February 9; Emergency Services Personnel Report to Work as Scheduled

For Immediate Release: February 8, 2010

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the City of Alexandria from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday evening, with 10 to 20 inches of additional snow possible, and near-blizzard conditions. Due to the current forecast, road conditions, and ongoing recovery efforts, City of Alexandria government facilities and all normal government operations will be closed Tuesday, February 9. All emergency and support personnel for emergency conditions are required to report on time to support Alexandria’s emergency operations.

Alexandria City Public Schools will also be closed on Tuesday.

Both City and Schools operations may close on Wednesday, depending on storm conditions. A determination will be made and announced on Tuesday.
