News Highlights:

More Information:

Alexandria will celebrate the New Year in style as the City hosts First Night Alexandria on Thursday, December 31. Alexandria businesses will host musical performances, art shows and interactive activities in celebration of the New Year, capped off with a spectacular fireworks display at midnight.

The festivities will begin with the first-ever Fun Hunt beginning at 2:30 p.m. Fun Hunt participants will pick up clues at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria. The Fun Hunt will run until 4:45 PM, when completed forms must be turned in at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 1900 Diagonal Rd. At 5 p.m., all teams who complete the Fun Hunt will be included in a prize drawing, with a top prize of $500.

First Night Alexandria offers an alcohol-free celebration with a wide range of options for children, teens and adults. From 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Alexandria hosts 19 indoor venues with multiple stages featuring more than 100 musical performances. Just before midnight, the College of William and Mary “Stairwells” will perform at the George Washington Masonic Memorial steps, followed by spectacular fireworks at midnight.

All events will take place this year within four Old Town “Spotlight” areas. Patrons can walk or ride Metro to the event, then take the free King Street trolley between the four Spotlight areas. The trolley will also provide service between the George Washington Masonic Memorial and King Street Metro until 1 a.m. (Please note that DASH is not providing free shuttle service on King Street this year.) Patrons who drive to the event can park in one of several Colonial Parking garages providing free parking during the evening.

One badge will provide adult admission to all event venues. Badges may be purchased for $20 at retail locations throughout Alexandria, and on New Year’s Eve at select First Night Alexandria venues. Children 12 and under, and active military personnel, are free. For more information, visit www.firstnightalexandria.org.
