Wednesday, December 16 - ATC Community Meeting on Preliminary FY2011 Budget & Potential Subsidy Reduction Impacts

The Alexandria Transit Company (ATC) will be holding a Community Meeting on ATC's preliminary Fiscal Year 2011 Budget on at 7:00 p.m., in Alexandria City Hall, 301 King Street, Sister Cities Conference Room, Room 1101. The City of Alexandria is estimating a budget shortfall of approximately $43 million in Fiscal Year 2011.  The Alexandria City Council expects that there will be substantial City service reductions in the proposed FY2011 budget and that these reductions may need to be continued for the foreseeable future. The City of Alexandria’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has informed ATC that it is projecting reductions in transit subsidies for DASH of approximately $600,000.  ATC is in the process of identifying service cuts and fare options to meet the potential subsidy reduction.  These options will be presented to the community at the meeting on December 16th. For more information, contact Anne Janeski at 703.746.5646 or anne.janeski@alexandriava.gov.
