Alexandria Police Resolve Barricade Incident on Ascot Court

Alexandria Police have peacefully resolved a barricade incident that occurred in the 5500 block of Ascot Court.

Yesterday, around 5:30 P.M., officers were called to the area to check on an individual who was believed to be armed and distraught. After making contact with the officers, the individual refused to leave his residence. Officers secured the area. The apartments immediately adjacent to the individual’s residence were evacuated. Alexandria Special Operations Team (SOT), Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT) and K-9 Units responded to the scene.  

At approximately 11:20 P.M., the individual surrendered to police without further incident. There were no injuries.  Sanger Avenue, between Van Dorn Street and Beauregard Street, was closed for approximately six hours.
