Alexandria Police have charged a woman after she put a child in danger and was involved in a traffic accident.
On Monday, November 23, at 8:00 a.m., Kerbi Ware, 26, of the 5300 block of Taney Avenue, was driving a 1997 Mercury Marquis southbound on North Ripley Street. Ware disregarded the red light at the intersection of Duke Street and North Ripley Street and was struck by a 2000 Chevrolet Tracker that was traveling Westbound on Duke Street. The Mercury was being driven by a 21-year-old man from Waldorf, Maryland, who was not injured.
Ware was taken to INOVA Alexandria Hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries. A 5-year-old passenger in Ware’s car was in a car safety seat and not injured. She was released to the custody of a relative.
The investigation revealed that Ware was under the influence of narcotics when the accident occurred. She was charged with Driving Under the Influence-Drugs (DUI-D), Possession of a Controlled Substance and Child Endangerment. She was taken to the Alexandria Adult Detention Center where she is being held on a $6500 bond.
