Two Alarm Attic Fire Displaces Four Families

At approximately 9:11 a.m Thursday, October 29,2009, Units from Alexandria and Arlington Fire Departments responded to reports of fire coming from an attic at 3715 Lyons Lane. First arriving units reported heavy smoke and fire from the attic of an end-of the row townhome and requested a second alarm. There were no reported injuries to residents of all four units.

Fire crews performed an aggressive interior attack containing the fire to the common attic of 3715 and 3713 Lyons Lane.

The adjacent town homes, located at 3709 and 3711 Lyons Lane, sustain smoke and heat damage. Fire Marshals determined the cause of the fire to be electrical in nature. Total damage is estimated at $1,000,000.

Fire Marshals condemned all four units. Four families were displaced. The local chapter of the Red Cross relocated two families. The remaining residents will be staying with friends and relatives.
