Alexandria Police Investigate Suspicious Person at James K. Polk Elementary School

Alexandria Police are investigating a suspicious person that was seen by a student at James K. Polk Elementary School, located at 5000 Polk Avenue, on Tuesday, October 21.  Around 2:30 P.M., a man called out to an eight year old girl who was walking from the school and asked her to go with him.  The child refused and boarded the bus instead.  The man left the area and the girl was not injured. The girl told her mother when she got home, who notified the school of the incident on Wednesday, October 22, the following morning.

The man is described as Hispanic, in his 20’s with black hair and a thin build.  He was wearing a dark shirt and baggy blue jeans.  The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703.838.4444 or the Crime Solvers tip line at 703.838.4858.

Detectives would like to remind witnesses that they can remain anonymous.
