Alexandria Police Investigate Series of Business Burglaries

Alexandria Police are investigating a series of burglaries from businesses which have occurred over the past two months.  Detectives believe that the same person or persons are responsible for nine separate offenses dating back to September 19, 2009.

The burglar or burglars may have visited the places of businesses before returning later at night and smashing the front windows or doors and gaining entry into the business.  In almost all the cases, the cash register, lock box, or cash drawer was taken from the business.

Detectives ask that merchants be on alert for suspicious activity, customers or vehicles that might be casing the business.  Merchants are reminded to lock all doors, windows and activate any surveillance equipment on the premises.

Detectives would like to remind witnesses that they can remain anonymous.  Anyone with information about these burglaries or the suspects involved is asked to call Detective Tommy Ground at the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703.838.4737 or the Crime Solvers tip line at 703.838.4858.

For further information, contact the Media Services Unit at 703.838.4636.
