UPDATE:  Alexandria Detectives Make Arrest in S. Whiting Street Homicide

Alexandria Detectives have charged Jose Alberto Osorio, Jr., 19, of Metairie, LA, with first degree murder in the death of Sylvester Muskelly on September 3.  He was transported to the Alexandria Adult Detention Center where he is being held without bond.  He was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon and being a fugitive from justice.  He had been wanted by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana for armed robbery.

UPDATE:  Alexandria Police Identify Homicide Victim on S. Whiting Street

Alexandria Police have identified the victim of yesterday’s homicide as Sylvester Muskelly, 50, of no fixed address.  On Wednesday, September 3, at approximately 11:00 p.m., officers responded for a report of a man lying in the parking lot.  Upon their arrival, they found the man suffering from trauma to the upper body.  The victim was transported to INOVA Fairfax Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy performed Friday has determined the manner of death to be homicide.  The cause of death is a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Alexandria Police Investigate Suspicious Death on S. Whiting Street

Alexandria Police are investigating the suspicious death of a man found in the 300 block of S. Whiting Street.  On Thursday, September 3 around 11:00 p.m., officers responded for a report of a man lying in the parking lot.  Upon their arrival, they found a man suffering from trauma to the upper body.  The victim was transported to INOVA Fairfax Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.  The unidentified victim is a black male.
