Saturday, August 29 – CANCELLED: Second Civil War Sesquicentennial Meeting
The second Civil War Sesquicentennial community planning meeting has been cancelled. For more information, call 703.838.4554 or visit www.historicalexandria.org.

Sunday, August 30 – New DASH Timetables Begin
Starting Sunday, August 30, new DASH timetables will be in effect. Only minor timetable adjustments have been made. For more information, please visit www.dashbus.com, view the new Ride Guide with a yellow cover, or call 703.746.DASH (3274) for route and schedule information.

Wednesday, September 2 – Transportation Commission Meeting 
The Department of Transportation & Environmental Services invites residents to attend the Transportation Commission’s public hearing to discuss transportation project funding for Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality/Regional Surface Transportation Program grants and the City’s Transportation Improvement Program. Call for Artists for Charles Hamilton Houston Memorial
The City of Alexandria has announced a Call for Artists for the Charles Hamilton Houston Memorial to be located at the Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe St. The City will conduct the search for qualified applicants through a Request for Qualifications. The deadline for submission is October 1, 2009, at 4 p.m. EDT. The anticipated installation date of the Charles Hamilton Houston Memorial is April 2011.
