Tuesday, August 25 – Vehicle Personal Property Tax Bills Mailed
Today the City of Alexandria mailed 2009 Vehicle Personal Property Tax bills to all vehicle owners residing in the City. If you do not receive a personal property tax bill by September 15, please contact Personal Property at vehicletax@alexandriava.gov or call 703.746.3901. You may also contact the City’s Treasury Division at payments@alexandriava.gov or call 703.746.3902. Taxpayers who have had a change of address or disposed of a vehicle and have not previously reported this change to the City should contact Personal Property so that an adjusted bill can be provided for them prior to the October 5 due date.

Today the City of Alexandria mailed 2009 Business Personal Property Tax bills to all businesses that were operating in the City as of January 1, 2009. If you do not receive a business personal property tax bill by September 15, please contact Business Tax at businesstax@alexandriava.gov or call 703.746.3903. You may also contact the City’s Treasury Division at payments@alexandriava.gov or call 703.746.3902. Taxpayers who have had a change of address and have not previously reported this change to the City should contact Business Tax so that a bill can be provided for them prior to the October 5 due date.

Saturday, August 29 – Second Civil War Sesquicentennial Meeting
A second Civil War Sesquicentennial community planning meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial, 101 Callahan Dr. A speaker from the Virginia Tourism Corporation will facilitate sessions to plan programs for Alexandria’s commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Call for Artists for Charles Hamilton Houston Memorial
The City of Alexandria has announced a Call for Artists for the Charles Hamilton Houston Memorial to be located at the Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe St. The City will conduct the search for qualified applicants through a Request for Qualifications. The deadline for submission is October 1, 2009, at 4 p.m. EDT. The anticipated installation date of the Charles Hamilton Houston Memorial is April 2011.
