[Archived] City of Alexandria Hosts Annual Irish Festival

The City of Alexandria will host the annual Irish Festival on Saturday, August 8, from noon to 7 p.m. at Waterfront Park, 1A Prince St. Admission is free, and the festival will be held rain or shine. The City’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities and the Ballyshaners, Inc., are cosponsoring the festival.

Entertainment features Brook Yoder; Pat Garvey; the Culkin School of Dance; Pat Carroll; the Flying Cows of Ventry; the O’Neill-James School of Dance; The City of Alexandria Pipes and Drums; and the Lieutenant Colonel Dowd Division A. O. H. Color Guard, among others. Exhibits will highlight traditional arts, crafts, jewelry, paintings and souvenirs. Throughout the day, food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Visitors to the historic district are encouraged bike, walk or take the Metrorail Yellow or Blue lines to the King Street Station and take the free King Street Trolley, or DASH or Metro buses to the festival. Parking is also available in one of the convenient parking garages or lots.
