UPDATE:  Alexandria Police Identify Homicide Victim on N. Payne Street

Alexandria Police have identified the victim of last Thursday’s homicide as Michael James Horton, 45, of Butler, Pennsylvania.  Police were called to the 600 block of N. Payne Street around 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 18 for an aggravated assault.  Upon their arrival, they found a man lying on the ground suffering from trauma to the upper body.  The victim was transported to INOVA Alexandria Hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

An autopsy performed Friday has determined the manner of death to be homicide.

Attached is a photo of Mr. Horton.  Anyone who recognizes the victim or who has information about this incident is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703.838.4711 or the Crime Solvers tip line at 703.838.4858.  Detectives would like to remind witnesses that they can remain anonymous.

Alexandria Police Investigate Suspicious Death on N. Payne Street

Alexandria Police are investigating the death of a man in the 600 block of N. Payne Street as a suspicious death.  On Thursday, June 18 around 6:00 p.m., officers responded for a report of an aggravated assault.  Upon their arrival, they found a man lying on the ground suffering from trauma to the upper body.  The victim was transported to INOVA Alexandria Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.  The unidentified victim is a white male.
