City of Alexandria Holds Public Hearing on Moving Two Alexandria Polling Locations
June 11, 2009

News Highlights:

More Information:

The Alexandria City Council will hold a public hearing at its meeting on Saturday, June 13, at 9:30 a.m. at City Hall, (301 King St.) to receive comments on a proposal to move  two Alexandria polling places beginning with the November 2009 General Election.

The proposed polling locations to be moved are:

The move from St. Martin Center will re-establish the precinct in a public building, which is legally mandated where possible. St. Martin was used when City officials announced plans to renovate Patrick Henry Recreation Center. Those plans have since been put on hold.

The move from the Fire Department Headquarters will eliminate difficult polling conditions, including noise created by fire and rescue calls and election officers and voters enduring extreme heat in truck bays where voting is conducted during summer elections.
