Alexandria Police Investigate Burglary and Sexual Assault

Alexandria Police are investigating a burglary and sexual assault that occurred Sunday, May 31 at 1:00 a.m. in the 5700 block of Dunster Court.  A female resident awoke to find a man looking in the window of her seven year old daughter’s room.  The suspect fled when he was seen.

Later that morning, the mother called Detectives back to the scene to report that her child was inappropriately touched by the suspect.  Detectives believe that the suspect entered the room through an unlocked window.

There is no further suspect description.

Police encourage everyone to ensure that their doors and windows are locked before going to bed.  Criminal activity can greatly be reduced by taking away the opportunity.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703.838.4444 or the Crime Solvers tip line at 703.838.4858.  Detectives would like to remind witnesses that they can remain anonymous.
