Tuesday, May 19 – Potomac Yard Metro Feasibility Work Group Meeting
The Potomac Yard Metro Feasibility Work Group Meeting will meet at 7 p.m. in Sister Cities Conference Room 1101, Alexandria City Hall, 301 King St. The mission of this group is to analyze the financial tools, risks and fiscal impacts of funding the Metrorail station, to examine concept refinement and constructability of a new station, to review construction costs, and to evaluate potential ridership. Wednesday, May 20 – BRAC Advisory Group Meeting
The BRAC Advisory Group will meet from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Jerome “Buddie” Ford Nature Center, 5700 Sanger Ave. The mission of the group is to serve as a forum for developing ideas and recommendations relating to transportation improvements and other issues associated with the BRAC-133 office building. The Braddock Implementation Advisory Group will meet from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Alexandria Black History Museum, 902 Wythe St. The mission of the group is to provide support for the implementation of the Braddock Metro Neighborhood Plan. The Department of Transportation & Environmental Services invites residents to attend one of four upcoming stormwater management public outreach meetings, where residents are invited to discuss the City’s stormwater programs and provide input on funding options. Nominations Sought for the 2009 Alexandria Beautification Awards
The City of Alexandria’s Beautification Commission is accepting nominations for the 2009 Alexandria Beautification Awards. The awards program recognizes City residents, organizations, and businesses for their efforts in contributing to the beautification of City neighborhoods and public vistas with landscaping and aesthetic design. Nominations must be received by Friday, May 29. Nominations Sought for the 2009 CIVIC Awards
The Alexandria Park and Recreation Commission is seeking nominations for the 2009 CIVIC Awards. The annual awards program recognizes the unsung volunteer efforts of Alexandrians who are involved in their communities and who have provided a valuable service to Alexandria in meeting recreation, park, or cultural needs. Alexandria Marketing Fund Accepting Applications
Applications are now being accepted for the Alexandria Marketing Fund, a program administered by the Alexandria Marketing Committee. The program is designed to foster projects that enhance the long-range marketing priorities of the City; increase awareness, while expanding the quality, of Alexandria’s diverse retail, dining, hospitality, cultural attractions and other businesses; promote Alexandria to specific target audiences, including residents and visitors; and to generate additional business sales and tax revenues in Alexandria.
