Alexandria Police Charge City Employee with Embezzlement

Alexandria Police Detectives in cooperation with officials from the City of Alexandria’s Transportation & Environmental Services (T&ES) and the Office of Management and Budget, began an investigation into allegations of embezzlement involving a T&ES employee earlier this year.  Information received by the police department indicated that the employee, who was a parking meter repairman for the City of Alexandria, had been taking money from the parking meters while conducting repairs.  The subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of William J. Fell, 61, of Stafford County, Virginia.  He has been charged with two counts of embezzlement by a public officer.  The embezzled funds are in excess of $170,000.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges might be forthcoming.
