[Archived] City of Alexandria Holds Green Building Forum

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 23, 2009

City of Alexandria Holds Green Building Forum

Wednesday, January 28

A Green Building Forum will be held on Wednesday, January 28, in the theater at the George Washington Masonic Memorial (101 Callahan Drive) from 7 to 9 p.m. Free parking is available on the north side of the memorial at the top of the hill. The Masonic Memorial is just a short walk up the hill from the King Street Metro Station.

The forum will be structured as a panel discussion with representatives from the building industry, green building organizations, environmental representatives and City staff.  The forum will address the importance of green buildings to the City and to the region, and will show how the City is already incorporating green buildings into public and private projects. In addition, a draft Green Building Policy will be presented, followed by an opportunity for public comment and questions. Based on the information and feedback provided at the forum, the draft Green Building Report will be finalized and presented to Planning Commission and City Council for action.

To view a draft report, visit the Department of Planning and Zoning Web site (https://www.alexandriava.gov/planning/info/default.aspx?id=18156). For further information, contact Rich Josephson at richard.josephson@alexandriava.gov.

The City is committed to compliance with the Human Rights Code and the Americans with Disabilities Act. To request materials in an alternative format or a disability accommodation, please contact Kim Agee at 703.838.4666.
