FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 21, 2009
Video Contest Explores Issues Related to Teen PregnancyWhat’s your reality? Would you like to direct or star in your own video? Want to write a script? The Alexandria Campaign on Adolescent Pregnancy (ACAP) is calling on all youth ages 12 to 19 to submit a digital video that shows the reality of issues related to teen pregnancy.
Local youth groups, after-school programs, and/or groups of friends are encouraged to enter the Undiscovered Reality digital video contest. Youth will create videos no longer than five minutes that show the reality of issues related to teen pregnancy. Groups can film themselves or get assistance from ACAP. Entries are due March 1, 2009. Each entry will have the chance to win a $500 grand prize, a $250 first place prize or a $100 second place prize. All winning videos will be recognized at the ACAP Community Breakfast on April 1. All submitted videos will be featured on www.alexgetreal.com and on ACAP’s Facebook page.
The Alexandria Campaign on Adolescent Pregnancy works collaboratively for and with youth to achieve lifetime success through active involvement and personal commitment. ACAP strives to sustain a reduction in adolescent pregnancy and the consequences for its youth through culturally and age appropriate education, advocacy, technical assistance, direct service prevention programs and public awareness.
Entry forms and contest rules can be found on www.alexgetreal.com. For more information, or to enter the contest, please contact Becky Griesse at 703.746.5030 or rebecca.griesse@alexandriava.gov.
