[Archived] First Night Alexandria Fireworks Cancelled

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 31, 2008

The midnight fireworks display scheduled for First Night Alexandria have been cancelled due to weather-related difficulties.  The truck delivering the fireworks was stranded by an accident on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge which resulted in trucks being banned from using the bridge. The delay has made the vendor unable to get to the City in time to complete the set up and safety checks required for the display.  As a result, the fireworks have been cancelled.
