FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 26, 2008

iMovie Mentors Program Presents Second Annual Film Festival
Films by Alexandria Youth Will Premiere on Tuesday, December 9

Come and discover Alexandria's hidden talents at the Second Annual iMovie Mentors Annual Film Festival, scheduled on Tuesday, December 9, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Old Town Theater, 815 ½ King Street. The iMovie Mentors Program, which serves preteen boys is sponsored by the Alexandria Court Service Unit with funding from the Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant. Adult male mentors attend a weekly workshop with the boys to establish mentoring relationships, learn the essentials of moviemaking, and help their mentees acquire life and technological skills. The film festival, the program’s crowning event, screens short films and crime prevention public service announcements that have been created by the boys and their mentors. Attendees are encouraged to arrive by 5:50 p.m. to greet the youth as they “walk the red carpet” into the theater. The suggested donation for entrance into the event is $5, which includes popcorn and soda. For more information, call Linda Odell at 703.838.4144, or e-mail linda.odell@alexandriava.gov
