[Archived] Fire in a House Under Construction

At approximately 5:41 a.m Sunday November 16, 2008, Alexandria Fire and EMS units responded to a report of fire in a house under construction at 1210 North Pegram street. Upon arrival, fire personnel observed fire on the first floor of a three-story single family house. The single family house was in the final stage of construction and was
framed and under roof.

Fire crews initiated an aggressive attack and contained the fire to the basement. Severe fire damage was sustained to fifteen floor joists, causing the first floor to become unstable. The house was condemned due to extensive floor damage. Damage is estimated at $250,000.00. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
