City of Alexandria Hosts Annual Scottish Christmas Walk Parade

The City of Alexandria invites the public to attend the 38th Annual Scottish Christmas Walk Parade on Saturday, December 6, at 11 a.m. in historic Old Town. The centerpiece of the Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend, the parade celebrates the City's Scottish heritage, featuring more than 100 Scottish clans, bagpipe and drum bands, living history reenactment groups, dog clubs, and a special appearance by Santa Claus. This year’s Grand Marshal is Willard Scott of NBC’s The Today Show.

The parade begins at 11 a.m., rain or shine. The parade starts at the intersection of Wilkes Street and South St. Asaph Street. The parade will head north on South St. Asaph Street to Queen Street, turn right on Queen Street to North Fairfax Street, then turn right and head south on North Fairfax Street. The parade will then turn right on King Street, and pass the reviewing stand at King and Royal Streets (Market Square) to the termination point at the intersection of King and Pitt Streets.

The Scottish Christmas Walk Parade and Weekend is hosted by The Campagna Center, with support from the City of Alexandria. For additional information on the Scottish Christmas Walk Parade and Weekend, visit www.scottishchristmaswalk.com.

All of the weekend’s proceeds benefit The Campagna Center’s programs, helping children in Alexandria arrive at school ready to learn and ensuring they are academically successful at each grade level. For information on The Campagna Center, call 703.549.0111 or visit www.campagnacenter.org.
