FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 29, 2008
Free Foreclosure Prevention Clinic Scheduled for November 12
Area residents who are experiencing difficulty in meeting their monthly mortgage payments, and those who are already in the process of foreclosure, are eligible to attend a Foreclosure Prevention Clinic, a free training and counseling service offered by Housing Counseling Services (HCS). HCS is a contract agency of the City of Alexandria that also provides training and individual counseling for first-time homebuyers who live or work in Alexandria. The clinic will be held on Wednesday, November 12, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Nannie J. Lee Center, 1108 Jefferson St., in Gold Room 1.
The Foreclosure Prevention Clinic will assist delinquent homeowners in seeking actionable, workable, and immediate solutions to prevent foreclosure and provide details on the "do's and don'ts" of dealing with mortgage delinquency. Participants will be individually assessed and given the opportunity to immediately schedule a default and delinquency counseling session. At the individual session, the client's personal situation will be explored, options will be presented, and a work plan will be established to address financial issues.
HCS is a nonprofit organization approved and funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. HCS provides free training, counseling and advocacy to homeowners, homebuyers and tenants. For more information, or to RSVP for the Foreclosure Prevention Clinic, please contact HCS at 202.667.7006.
